What does it mean to certify a bar in the world of bending?

It means having worked hard for a personal goal. A goal that, through a document that complies with a very specific regulation, is recognized as a prestigious recognition of esteem and sporting rigor. A document that will remind those who have achieved it of the level reached hard through fatigue, sweat and often pain. Something that not everyone can achieve and those who do must face their limits and be willing to sacrifice.

Styles Allowed

The styles for bending allowed in the classifications are the following:

Double Overhand

Double Underhand

Reverse

Barehands
(bare hands, only for expert benders aware of the risks they are exposed to)

Regulation

Bending to obtain a certification or enter the ranking requires the adoption of the same rules for each athlete, in order to make the executive method of the test unambiguous and standardized. So let’s see how to perform a valid technique for certification purposes:

– Use Pads GBI, Ironmind, Irongrip, DHWOG, Horrido, BendSportCanada and Silarukov.

– The only bars recognized will be the GBI Rods.

– Powdered chalk is allowed, but gloves, wristbands, tape or strange bandages are not allowed.

– Single pads up to the 125 kg bar. Double pads allowed from 145 kg to rise.

– The use of crush pads (pads reduced in size) is allowed for the crush phase.

– The only way to fix the pads is with rubber bands.

– For each style adopted, the use of the body is not allowed, only the positioning of the hands near the collarbones is allowed in the D.O. and near the chest in the D.U.

– The test must be completed in 5 minutes. In the D.O and D.U. the bar must close in a “U” shape with the internal ends not exceeding 5 cm.

For the Reverse, on the other hand, the validation of the test will be obtained by reaching a minimum bending degree of 40 ° measured by means of a protractor.

– The validation of the test will take place via video in which the GBI bar will be shown with clearly legible data. The recovery must be clearly visible and the validation will be at the discretion of the GBI Staff who will examine compliance with the rules listed above.

The video must be sent to the address: info@gripebenditalia.it or to Giorgio Giannico through the social channels.

The tests deemed valid will be published on the official GBI YouTube channel and the athlete will be included in the ranking.

Upon obtaining the certification, a high definition file will be issued containing the official GBI certificate. The results that provide for the certification are the following:
